We’re excited to kick off this series by introducing you to Martin Luff, our Director of Architecture & Consulting. With over 20 years in the industry, Martin brings a wealth or experience and insight to Cybanetix.
We sat down with him to learn more about his journey and how his expertise continues to shape the future of Cybanetix. 🎤⬇️
🤝 What brought you to Cybanetix?
I’ve been working in IT networking and cybersecurity for many years, both as an engineer and in pre-sales and solution design roles. I’ve always wanted to work for a security specialist, so when Martin Jakobsen, our CEO, reached out to me in 2017 to tell me he was starting Cybanetix, I jumped at the chance. Having known and worked with Martin for a long time, I was excited about his vision for creating an agile, high-value managed security provider. Plus, I couldn’t wait to help build a team of talented people who really understand what it takes to deliver a high quality managed service. I think we’ve done a great job so far—and the rest is history!
🧑‍💻 How do you approach your role in pre-sales and consultancy?
Clearly its important to build a strong understanding of the core technologies and services we work with, including their strengths and weaknesses and how they all fit together. But even more important is listening to our customers to understand their challenges and requirements, and map these to a quality solution that will deliver the key outcomes. It’s not about selling a specific tech or service; it’s about finding the right fit for them. Building a trusted relationship with our customers is equally crucial, so we can keep up with their changing security strategies over time.
đź’« What are some highlights from your time at Cybanetix?
There’s been quite a few, as I’ve been with Cybanetix pretty much from the start! We’ve had a lot of success in winning new contracts and building some really strong relationships with our customers. And looking back at our growth journey, it’s been great to see the team develop and to work with such amazing colleagues. We’ve also earned some key security accreditations along the way, and of course, we love a summer party! Overall, it’s really rewarding to know that I’ve played a part in the business’s growth and success.
🌎 What excites you most about the future of Cybanetix?
I am excited to be part of the continued growth of the business, and ultimately I’d like for us to be the top choice provider for managed security services. It’s an ambitious goal, and to get there, we will need to keep embracing new capabilities and technologies, and continue to push the limits to make our customers more secure. Most importantly, we have to keep putting the customer first. This was the vision I signed up for back in 2017, and it’s something we should always keep in mind.
🔑 What advice would you give to aspiring leaders in the industry?
Take the time to learn about the technologies and services out there. Understand how they work, what they do, and the outcomes they deliver. Listen to the knowledgeable people around you. Speak up when you have something to say, but also be open and willing to soak up information from other leaders and experts, this will help you figure out what the “secret sauce” is. Stay curious and keep asking questions!
