At Cybanetix, we are led by exceptional individuals who drive our success and innovation. These people are just as important as the services we offer! 🏅
⏰ Over the next few weeks, we’ll be introducing you to the leaders behind the scenes.
Bradley Kite, our Technical Director, embodies a lifelong passion for all things technology. His journey into IT began early — at just six years old, Brad was gifted a ZX Spectrum, sparking his curiosity about how computers work. By his teenage years, he was taking apart PCs and reassembling them to deepen his understanding. This hands-on approach laid the foundation for a career that has spanned development, security, networking, and everything in between.
In my conversation with Brad, he shared his unique journey to Cybanetix, his vision for the future, and his advice for aspiring technical leaders. Read our full conversation below and learn why Brad says, “I’m very lucky that I love what I do, and that really helps. If you enjoy what you do, it makes everything easier.”🎤⬇️
🤝 What brought you to Cybanetix?
“Martin [Jakobsen] had an idea, and he phoned me up on the first day that I’d just completed a project I was working on. I had provided consultancy and software to where Martin was, which is where our relationship developed. After about 6 years I sold that business. The very first day I was free, I was looking forward to a lie in, and he phoned me up and told me about this idea he had and asked if I wanted to help him put it together. He said we can really make this work. We’ve worked together before, already had a relationship, and I just jumped in right at the start.”
🧑💻 How do you approach your role in pre-sales and consultancy?
“Heavy engagement with the SOC team. The SOC need to be able to do their job more efficiently. Sometimes we get overloaded with investigations, so we try to automate as many of those investigations as we can to reduce the manual workload for the SOC. From an incident basis, security incidents will get escalated, so running the forensics and ultimately getting customers out of trouble if they think they’ve been breached, or understanding the nature of the breach, how it happened, why, what happened, what’s the scope. There’s also the engineering team that deals with the on-boarding and day-to-day technical side of the service, so lots of engagement with them. Our current focus is on changing the core operational product that we use to SwimLane… my team and I have built the entire design for that. Everything we’ve learned so far is going to help our business take the next steps to future growth.”
💫 What are some highlights from your time at Cybanetix?
“There’s been multiple key points in our evolution, and I think probably the implementation of our core operational product has really helped us transform from a junior player to a more serious provider.”
🌎 What excites you most about the future of Cybanetix?
“At the moment it’s all SwimLane. The benefit that’s going to give to our customers in terms of accuracy, consistency, quality of services, SLAs, and how we scale that up. I think it’ll be massive over the next years. Might be some teething issues and problems to solve on the way, but it’s a vital next leap for us.”
🔑 What advice would you give to aspiring leaders in the industry?
“On the technical side, just follow your passion. If you’re interested in a technology or something new, spend half an hour before bed just reading about it. Or if you wake up at 4 in the morning with a crazy idea, it might upset the rest of your family, but get out of bed and start working on it!”
