What will a SOC analyst’s job role look like in the new world of AI?

Managing Director of Cybanetix, Martin Jakobsen, spoke to Digitalisation World about how he thinks AI will transform the work of SOC analysts, introducing the so-called ‘autonomous SOC’. While it is inevitable that AI will need to become interwoven with the fabric of the SOC due to the nature of AI-driven threats, how and to what extent remains to be seen. By phasing the approach, the teams will be able to extract the greatest benefit from emerging technologies, ensuring effective integration that maximises both human knowledge and technical capabilities.

‘AI could pave the way for the SOC to become much more efficient. AI will not just augment analysts but directly assisting with key tasks such as threat detection, investigation, response and remediation. This in turn will drive down response times and minimising the impact of attacks.’
